Vivian Law and Justin Chan learned the techniques of contemporary relief wood carving in Taiwan under the tutelage of sculptor Yang Pei-chen. They then continued to broaden their skills and later learned Dongyang wood carving techniques from Master Wu Chuwei in Zhejiang Province, China.

The duo founded Bespecial Wood Carving & Woodcraft in 2013, with an aim to promote “subtractive life” in sync with nature through the art of wood carving, focusing on artistic creation and teaching.
